What is a honeypot in Security+?

D2 ยท Threats  ยท  CompTIA Security+ SY0-701
A honeypot is a decoy system intentionally designed to look like a vulnerable target. It attracts attackers, lets defenders observe their techniques, and generates alerts when accessed (since no legitimate traffic should ever touch it).

Honeynet = a network of honeypots simulating an entire environment.
Honeytokens = fake data (credentials, files) planted to detect insider threats.
Any connection to a honeypot is suspicious by definition. Honeypots are a deception technology โ€” they don't prevent attacks but help detect and study them.
